Self-care needs to be an active and conscious act. You must know it is in play for it to be effective. Self-care won’t just happen; it must be a deliberate and dedicated moment of time for reflecting and addressing the stressors in your life. I think I listen to too much music as a coping agent. I always have headphones on. I always have something playing on the computer or MP3 player. I need more silence and time for reflection and introspection. I need time away from the computer, away from the media, to reconnect with my passions and interests. I don’t know, yet, what my preferred self-care plan is for my class presentation, but I’ll find it soon enough.
